About Us

Welcome to Dixie Primary, a private practice specializing in Internal Medicine as well as general primary care in St George, Utah. We are dedicated to providing our patients with the most caring and compassionate health care in the industry. We take a holistic approach when treating our patients and blend both western and eastern style medicines. We believe medicine should be an integrative approach of disease prevention and treatment, through exercise, proper nutrition / healthy diet and stress control. We recognize that the current practice of medicine involves a lot of testing and prescription medications. We encourage all of our patients to be proactive in taking care of their general health by developing a genuine desire to continue to stay well. We support them by minimizing medications and using our clinical acumen in doing only the appropriate tests. We offer an understanding of wellness and will always stress patient education and provide educational tools to avoid disease. Dr. Grace Paradela, Tyler Rencher, D.O., Jonathan Baza, DO, Stacy Sumpter NP-C, Adam Dye, FNP-C, and W. Carl Caplin, NP-C comprise our provider team and as a philosophy we strive to keep you healthy through the practice of preventative medicine. Staff Bios

Dr Grace Paradela

Grace Paradela, M.D.

  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine
Dr. Grace Paradela completed her medical studies in the Philippines. She graduated magna cum laude in BS Medical Technology as a pre-med degree and was a four year full time scholar at Cebu Institute of Medicine. She had an additional year of internship at the Philippine General Hospital which served as the biggest tertiary care center for the entire country seeing over 1000 patients daily. She worked in multiple rural areas of the country doing pediatrics, minor surgery, family practice and OB-gyne. After fulfilling residency in Internal Medicine in Atlantic City Medical Center in New Jersey, she moved to St. George in 2002 and has been in the area ever since. She has been practicing acupuncture since 2006 and greatly values the integration of both western and eastern disciplines. Dr. Paradela is board certified in Internal Medicine and is a member of the American College of Physicians. She enjoys family time with her husband and her two sons, poetry, photography, karaoke, shopping and reality TV.

Tyler Rencher, D.O.

  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine
Dr. Tyler Rencher graduated from Touro University Nevada with a degree in Osteopathic Medicine in 2013. He completed residency in Internal Medicine at Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood, Arizona. Dr. Rencher is board certified in Internal Medicine, and has an interest in using Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy as a complement to other pain relief methods. He grew up in the St. George area, and returned with his family after completing residency. Dr. Rencher and his wife have two children. He enjoys music, working on cars, rockhounding, and other outdoor activities.

Jonathan Baza, DO

  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine
Dr. Jonathan Baza is originally from Bountiful, Utah. His undergraduate degree was in Athletic Therapy at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. He graduated medical school in 2016 from Touro University Nevada. Dr. Baza is trained in Family Medicine, and completed residency at Southeastern Health in Lumberton, North Carolina. Dr. Baza received his medical degree in Osteopathic Medicine and uses Osteopathic Manipulative Treatments (OMT) to treat a variety of sports and chronic injuries. His medical interests include sports medicine, dermatology, and women’s health. Dr. Baza is married and has three children. He and his family love playing games together, traveling, and outdoor activities like hiking and mountain biking.
Stacy's Bio

Mrs. Stacy Sumpter, NP-C

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Board Certified Nurse Practitioner
Mrs. Stacy Sumpter, NP-C began her nursing career in 1994 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. She graduated Cum Laude with a BS in Nursing from MaryCrest International University in Davenport, Iowa. Living in a rural community, she had the opportunity to work in multiple areas of Mercy Medical Center including OB-gyne, Labor and Delivery, Intensive Care Unit, Medical-Surgical, Home Care and Hospice and a Surgical Clinic. Seeking more autonomy, Stacy expanded her education earning a Master’s Degree in Nursing from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa and became a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner in 2005. Stacy is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau-Pi Eta Chapter. Stacy is married and has three wonderfully active children. Together they enjoy boating, trail riding, hiking and all of the outdoor activities that Southern Utah has to offer.

Adam Dye, FNP-C

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Board Certified Nurse Practitioner
Adam Dye, NP-C began his career as a nurse in 2006 when he graduated with a BSN from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. Right out of school he started working as an ICU nurse in Idaho Falls, Idaho which provided a great opportunity to learn as he manage the critically ill patients of the Idaho Falls Region. In 2010 he decided to pursue a Master’s Degree in Nursing and started that same year doing full time school and work. He graduated in 2012 with a Master’s of Science Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho and became board certified shortly after. He has enjoyed serving and getting to know individuals as he helps with their health care needs. Adam Loves spending time with his wife and four kids as they always keep him on his toes. He enjoys mountain bike riding, running, and is always up for a fun adventure with family and friends.

W. Carl Caplin, NP-C

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Board Certified Nurse Practitioner
W. Carl Caplin NP-C graduated with his BSN from Touro University Nevada in 2013 and worked as a registered nurse in hospice, children’s PICU and the emergency department before earning his masters degree from Chamberlain College in 2018. Carl’s patients, family and friends credit him for a friendly and comfortable presence. He has a passion for helping others and loves his work as a medical provider. When he is not at work you’ll find him on outdoor adventures with his wife and 2 small boys, hanging by the pool or writing and recording music.
